Submissions
Submissions are currently open for a special themed issue, guest edited by Ari Banias.
For issue three, we return to juridical concepts as a site of poetic inquiry with excited utterance: an exception to hearsay.
Sudden and unplanned, an excited utterance is a spontaneous outburst provoked by the pressure of a startling event, holding evidentiary value in court because it is free from artifice.
The phrase recalls other forms of excitation—close as it is to exultation—glossolalia, the epiphanic, divine messages, pressurized speech.
We’re interested in words that ring, surge, fly from their speakers in a hurry to be realized. Send 3-6 poems or up to 10 pages in a word doc to hearsay.journal@gmail.com by November 30th.
